Bleurgh.

We've been sick. Sick all last week and just when you think you're clear, wallop. Sickness strikes again and sort throats and temperatures. Cue much shouting of "have you washed your hands *pause* with soap???" and everyone feeling a bit fed up.

Plans keep changing and a party missed. So today we pushed on through and did comfort cooking and game playing, whilst administering to the ailing!

Everything is looking a bit better this side of lemon cupcakes and chestnut chocolate cake and chicken soup is soothing tummies and souls too.

OKTA Grids and inspired learning

A great thing about home educating your kids, you're always learning new things too!

We have just found out about OKTA grids in a great example of child led/inspired learning. Mia was looking through a new magazine we have subscribed to and decided to look them up online. There she found some interesting games and also some printable experiments. Bingo! Button pressed, paper printing.

An OKTA grid is used in meteorology to asses cloud coverage and use it for forecasting. We followed the instructions and went to have a look!
We talked about different types of cloud, are going to take thing further with more weather experiments and see going to head to the library to look for books too.

*right Now* good things

To help us through the last days and weeks of winter things we love are brightening our days.

: : flowers blooming on the cloudiest day
: : winter leaves from our veg box in a happy salad
: : fresh baked dough balls dipped warm in something fancy
: : morning reads and cuddles from little people and purring cats
: : things collected and made

It's good to appreciate the little things that can brighten your day.

: : Monday Montage : :

In an effort to keep up with the blogging I think a Monday Montage is a shiny happy way to record all those snippets from our days that don't feel big enough for a post all of their own.

I'm not sure why the words and pictures are failing me and keeping up has got so hard. Maybe we really are settling into a predictable rhythm that is our home educating life. It's only taken nearly three years!

But you know there are only so many times we can read or write the same thing. Well, for most of us. Will would of course disagree, if it's your very very favourite book, or books, any number of repeats is perfectly normal and desired!!!

And of course it's winter. We are still hibernating a little and interesting trips out are few. Our days are much more contained and filled with music and books and paper and pens. Curled somewhere comfy.

But of course (its a home ed blog) we are still learning, practicing and sharing despite the cold and dark. Here, have a look!

Art satchel update!

It was thought, it was measured and it was made.

It's now going everywhere.

Right now

We have been snuffly and snotty and busy and partying all at once it feels.
With no time to blog our days or nothing to say except maybe *sigh* why can't we all be poorly at once!

But we are trying to find moments to share with each other and right now we are planning a little bit of sewing.

With an already owned art roll and a pattern to inspire, Mia and I are finding some time and space to measure, pin and sew an art satchel.
